Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is the third installment in the Underworld series of films. It is a prequel to Underworld and Underworld: Evolution, covering the origins of some characters. Screen Gems released the film on January 23, 2009. The film was shot in Auckland, New Zealand and in Roxboro, North Carolina. In September 2003, shortly after the release of Underworld (2003), production companies Screen Gems and Lakeshore planned to release a prequel as the third film following Underworld's sequel, Underworld: Evolution (2006). Kate Beckinsale, who portrayed Selene in Underworld, expressed interest in reprising her role for the sequel and the prequel.

Underworld:Rise of the lycans, What do you think this movies going to be like?
I really liked the first two.
And I like the story line for this movie, or at least what I've seen from the previews.
What do you guys think??
And I'm a little confused because
In the first movie there was a blonde chick
and she was sneaking around and it made it seem like she was important
but then I didn't see her in the second movie
what happened??
Screw the answer above, if you seen Underworld and didn't like it that's fine, if you seen the sequel and didn't like it, WTF why were you there? If you watch the prequel and didn't like the last two, you're a loser that needs to get a hobby if you can waste time seeing movies you're most likely not going to like.
Dumb answer aside, I'm really looking forward to this movie, I probably won't get to see it in theaters but I never see anything in theaters XD.
I was interested in this back story way in the beginning, the only thing that sucks is Kate Beckinsale won't be in it and she's like the face of Underworld. I guess Michael Sheen and Rhona Mitra (Lucian and Sonya) will be taking the lead? That should be interesting, I just hope it doesn't feel like something that should have gone straight to DVD like most other sequels/prequels that don't involve the original stars. I'm guessing that won't happen though because it's got pretty much all the same cast, just only the ones who were actually around.
I think it will be good, less action packed than it is an actual story about something and watching the Lycans rise above will be fun. It's a different direction than watching them fight each other. You usually get that or Vampires just being in control in Vampire/Werewolf movies. Also, this leaves room for mostly a coven of vampires that are more like the "original" vampire to me. The only thing I didn't like about Underworld was how the werewolves stayed pretty true to their breed, fighting with their hands for the most part and being carnal, but the vampires seemed to have grown into weaker beings. I just hated how it seemed like the vampires were at a disadvantage, like in the first movie when they attacked Amelia. She's an elder she should have been able to fight, especially since it was noted how she would have been strong.
As far as the set up goes werewolves are stronger but vampires are smarter so the fighting grounds are equal, but with smart werewolves and weak vampires it kind of annoyed me because I'm a vampire person, so this movie will not disappoint because I have a feeling we'll be getting back to the raw beast vs. ghoul beat downs without all the guns and modern stuff. That's how I like em'.
Anyway, I rambled lol. Sorry for the long read I just happen to be watching Underworld at the moment so it's fresh in my head.
