how rare is a 15 ct north carolina gem quality ruby?
it has no inclusions and has a very nice purple tone. stone is faceted. cant find any on the net this large from north carolina. any idea on a price range? doesn't have to be exact, i'm not selling.
A 15ct. cut ruby from any locality is a very rare beast indeed. Just try doing a Google search for natural UNTREATED rubies and you will start to realize just how rare. Recently an 8.62 ct. superb Burma stone sold for a mind-blowing $3,600,000 plus the auction house commission (don't get too excited this stone really is among the ten finest rubies in the world). To be honest with a stone of the size you are talking about my serious advice is to have it professionally tested as to it really being ruby and as to if it has been treated in any way. This will cost you money but with a stone of potentially great value it will be an investment to have a certificate from a recognized testing laboratory to verify your stone.
