7 Signs Of Bad Poster Printing
Poster printing is as much an art as it is a science. That is why when you are choosing the printer that will print your color posters, you want to hire someone that can create posters with as much sense of creativity as well as the understanding of the science of printing. The best way to truly judge those printers is with the poster printing samples.
In this special guide, I will teach you how to judge a typical sample poster print. You will want to watch for these seven bad signs of poster printing so that you will know if your prospective poster printing company is well worth hiring.
1. Faded or Intense colors.
First up we have color quality. You will want to take a good look at the colors of those sample posters and see if they are faded or to intense. Faded or too intense colors in color printing means that the machines of that poster printing company is not always calibrated professionally for accurate printing. If you do print with colors like those, your poster images and text might look too different from what you see in your screen. So take it as a bad sign and use another printer.
2. Distorted images.
Second, you should see if the samples have some distorted images. Distorted images are typically a sign of bad scaling. Some amateur poster printing companies scale some poster designs to match their printing dimensions. When this happens the images within the designs can sometimes look distorted as the right scaling of the images was ignored to fit the dimensions. This is of course the bad type of poster printing that you should avoid. So make sure that you watch out for these and change your printing options accordingly.
3. Inaccurate printing.
If the color poster samples you see have slightly misaligned elements, or if there are white spaces at the edge of a fully detailed design, this is a bad sign of inaccurate printing. Most professional poster printing companies of course should always have the best precision printing tools for color posters. They also know how to compensate for printing bleeds so that the color poster looks as seamlessly made as possible. That is why if you see some inaccuracies and misalignments, you should try to switch to a more professional kind of printer.
4. Spills and blots.
You should also watch out for spills and blots in the inks of those sample posters. Some are subtle but these little spills in printing as well as the blots are a bad sign for color posters. This means that the jet, laser or actual metal mold of the printer is not as accurate as one might like. If you want your images to be crisp and each line to be crystal clear, then you should watch for samples without these spills and blots.
5. Bad cutting.
This is a simple bad sign to watch out in poster printing samples. Bad cutting is basically seen if you look at the edge of those printing samples. If you do not see a smooth cut then of course the color poster is bad. Professionals always have color posters that are cut precisely and smoothly. Beyond that the cutting should be accurately executed with no misalignments from the print designs themselves. If this is not present in your poster samples, then you should take a second look at your chosen poster printer.
6. Thin paper.
If the sample posters you have are printed in thin paper, then that is also a big sign of bad poster printing. True color posters always need thick paper materials so that they can last longer and resist different degrading elements. If the poster printing company only displays samples with thin paper, then you can hardly expect any kind of high quality color poster prints from them.
7. Lack of coating options.
Finally, if the custom poster sample you see does not have any kind of advanced coating for water or dirt resistance, then you should also take that as a bad sign. Posters are of course expected to bare a great degree of moisture or dirt damage. If those samples do not have special coatings for those typical types of damaging agents, then you definitely will not want to print with those printers.
Now you can easily judge good posters from the bad ones. Make sure that you choose a poster printing company that has samples with none of the above signs. This should help you worry less in your poster printing.
