A phat PSP (the original one) is the same as the slim one, except for:
The slim one is really light and thinner than the phat one.
The slim one has better RAM, therefore better loading times for games, etc...
The slim one has Skype, USB Charge, more background colors.
And Sony stopped selling the phat ones anyway, so you should just get a slim one.
And PSP's are way better than the DS because PSP's can store movies, videos, music, games, save data, and browse the internet, and even chat with people using SKYPE. The main feature of the DS is the touch screen.
