Fashionably Flat Footware Review

Some may remember an iconic skit on "Saturday Night Live," starring the late and brilliant Gilda Radner  -- "Le Shoe!" in which a deeply ugly rubber-soled black oxford was celebrated paradoxically on the streets of Paris.  Your senior citizen neighbors may be denizens of SAS, but you can find other alternatives. And these alternatives come with a celebrity-sanctioned recommendation: they've been spotted wearing them. 

            In the last decade, the ballet flat has made a big comeback, and it can be credited, perhaps, to the tremendous success of Tory Burch's Reva, which features an elasticized heel (harkening back to a popular style from the 1950s and 1960s) a rubberized sole with an imprint of Burch's logo, and, the most distinctive element of all: a round metallic embellishment of her logo.  Celeb fans include Teri Hatcher, Chelsea Clinton, Elle and Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Coolidge, Anna Paquin, Mandy Moore and Paris Hilton.             For the wealthy – and that includes the celebrities who love them – there are Lanvin Leather Ballet Flats. The lightweight leather shoe, also elasticized and foldable, retails for a whopping $485. The same shoe with an appliquéd flower will set you back $685. But, if you get a pair, you'll join Nicole Richie, Cameron Diaz, Victoria Beckham, Hilary Duff, Emma Roberts, Reese Witherspoon, Dakota Fanning, Claudia Schiffer, Lindsay Lohan, Liv Tyler, Nicky Hilton, Olivia Thirlby, Ashley Olsen and Kate Moss. 

            In the more affordable range, there's TOMs Shoes Canvas Slip-On which feature a soft leather insole and durable EVA outsole.  TOMs best known for their social efforts, for every pair that's purchased, TOMS will give a new pair to a child in need. Even though they're more reasonably priced, TOMs has celebrity fans, too.  They range in price from $44 to $79, but the most popular style is about $48. They include Miley Cyrus, Olivia Wilde, Claire Danes, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Jonas, Zac Effron, Anna Kendrick, Wyclef Jean, Maggie Grace, Emilie de Ravin, Liv Tyler, and Mila Kunis. 

            Chanel's quilted leather ballet flat features the trademark interlocked "C" appliqués and a leather shoe lace tied in a bow. Aside from Chanel's tony stand alone store, the shoes are difficult to find for "regular" people. Even on Ebay bids range from the mid $300-dollar to $700-price range. Celebrity fans include: Lily Allen, Diane Kruger, Ashlee Simpson, Hilary Duff, Ashley Tisdale, and Ashanti. 

            Designer Yosi Samra, whose family owns the J. Loren line, has a foldable leather and elastic flat that has gotten a ton of press, if not actual celebrity-wearing them out-and-about. They retail for about $50 and most recently released a line of brightly colored patent leather flats.  

            For those who are fancifully whimsical, there are the adorable $230 to $275 Marc by Marc Jacobs "Mouse" flat (and yes, they look just like they sound, a sweet little leather flat with a mouse face on the front tip). Starlets seen wearing them include Scartlett Johansson, Emma Watson, Mischa Barton, Hilary Duff, Paris Hilton and top fashion models. They can be purchased at Neiman Marcus, Revolve, Jildor, Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdales, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

I couldn't find anything that was exact, but I found a few that are slightly similar... I tried to find things with either a similar top or tulle/full skirt. Hope this helps, I love the dress in that advert!
