The Hermès Birkin Bag
In 2003, when FOX News asked women on the streets of Manhattan what they'd do for an Hermès Birkin bag, those surveyed eagerly offered to strip naked in Time Square, lick a filthy New York City sidewalk, and (hopefully in jest) sacrifice their first-born. So it should come as no great surprise that the Birkin, which bottoms out at $7,000 but can cost upwards of $120,000, tops the list of most globally desired status bags.
Though various tales of its inception still circulate throughout the fashion industry, the focal point and inspiration lie with one Jane Birkin, a famous English-born French singer and actress, who allegedly was asked by the then CEO of Hermès to sketch her dream bag. Today, the bag is famous for two-year-long wait lists, even for the rich and famous, and are made with the highest quality fabrics, such as crocodile skin exteriors and goat skin interiors. The wait lists are attributed to the fact that Hermès produces only five bags per week. Celebrities find the bags to be well worth the wait... and cost: as a Christmas gift, soccer superstar David Beckham gave his wife Victoria an £80,000 diamond-studded Birkin.
The Chanel 2.55
The quilted, chain-handled Chanel 2.55 handbag (so-named because of its February 1955 release) has been an icon of style and sophistication. for more than half a century Coco Chanel herself designed the bag, with its double flap closure and chain shoulder strap, so that a busy woman could keep her hands free. The 2.55 features a burgundy lining, a throwback to the orphanage uniforms Ms. Chanel wore in her childhood in a convent.
In the 1980s, when Karl Lagerfeld took the design helm of Chanel, he introduced the famous interlocking double C lock; however, the original and 2005 Reissue 2.55s maintain the original "Mademoiselle" front locks. Those with the double C trademark lock are called "Classic Flaps."
Louis Vuitton Monogram Bags & Luggage
The Louis Vuitton brand has been in the bag business since 1854, and its trademark, prestigious logo has been a symbol of luxury for nearly 160 years. From wallets to clutches to luggage, there are countless coveted styles bearing the LV monogram.

I heard a BBC DJ play the song to promote Sonic Youth’s album Dirty, in the 1990’s.
The song is not an album track. I have the Cd. And I don’t think it was even included on the deluxe reissue of Dirty. It was probably only available on vinyl in 1992, or it was probably a radio promo record.
Thurston sings it. The lyrics are totally in French, if I’m not mistaken. The music is a fast-paced rock’n’roll. The vocal melody is just as rapid.
