Winchester - Hampshire's Cathedral City
Winchester, once the capital of Saxon and Norman Kings, dominates central Hampshire. Its majestic Cathedral is one of the most renowned in the United Kingdom and was where Henry VII son was christened. Construction began in the 11th century on a site close to that of a Saxon church and consecration took place in 1093. It covers 556 ft and is one of the longest cathedrals in Europe. Its treasures include seven beautifully carved chapels, a collection of mortuary chests with the bones of ancient kings and a 12th century marble font, carved with scenes from the life of St Nicholas. The surrounding laws
Winchester showcases a variety of architectural influences following the 13th century including a number of Georgian and Queen Ann buildings. Two of the original gates to Winchester also survive. Westgate, which is a museum is located near to Castle Hall, part of the old Norman castle. Inside, visitors will find a representation of King Arthur's Round Table which dates from Tudor times. Kingsgate can be found near the cathedral and the medieval church, St Swithin. Two hills overlook Winchester. St Giles, located on the banks of the River Itchen and has a large public park that offers fine views of the city. St Cahterine's Hill features an Iron Age earthwork, remains of a medieval chapel and a labyrinth which is cut into the ground. It is said to date back to prehistoric times. There is also a number of visitor attractions and villages of historical interest surround Winchester.
Avington
This village lies in the Itchen Valley. Here, the river fans out to form a lake that is located near the impressive Avington House mansion, the one-time home of Nell Gwynne, the mistress of Charles II. An elegant 18th century church lies close-by. Built by Margaret Marchioness of Carnarvon, it houses a preserved squire's pew.
Cheesefoot Head
This is a large natural amphitheatre, located about 3 miles east of Winchester. It is thought to date from Roman times. This is evidenced by an oblong-shaped building that can be seen at its base.
Crawley
One of Hampshire's most picturesque villages which dates back to the 16th century. Notable historical attractions include a manor house and a charming country inn. The village is the setting for Thackeray's Vanity Fair.
Farley Mount
This is one of the finest viewpoints in the region and looks over the Itchen and Test valleys. Points of interest include a Bronze Age barrow with a monument constructed in 1795 which commemorates a horse that fell in a chalk pit during a fox hunt. A Roman road that runs from Winchester to Old Sarum passes the monument.
Hursley
A tiny, Tudor village with one street. Its church is the burial site of Oliver Cromwell's son Richard, who was the Lord of the Manor of Hursley – a monument can be found under the church tower.
Kings Worthy
This impressive church is located next to a cluster of cottages that feature square-clipped yews that blend with the distinctive, square 15th century tower.
Twyford
A lovely village, famous for two illustrious past residents. Benjamin Franklin wrote much of his autobiography at Twyford House and the poet Alexender Pope was excluded from the local school for ridiculing his teacher.

1) Annika -- I really like this name
I don't like Anne at all, I think it's terribly outdated and boring. Anna is alright but I don't have good personal associations with it.
2) Ava -- I don't like any of the names, but Avis is the name of a rental car company here in Australia so it makes me think of that, and Avery is strictly a boys name to me.
3) Brianna -- I love the name Brianna
but it's quite popular where I live which is about the only thing I don't like about it; I don't like Bryn(n) at all and Bronte is alright, but not my style.
4) Caroline -- Carol makes me think of Christmas carols or a nickname / last name. I love Caroline and it's a family name to me (great-grandmother was Elizabeth Caroline), I don't like Carolina much.
5) Cassandra -- Casey is a very 1980's boys name to me, outdated and very masculine sounding. Cassidy is a last name to me, and masculine. I love Cassandra, though I prefer Cassia
6) Charlotte -- Charlene is a very "bogan" (chav / redneck) name here in Australia and I don't like it at all. Chiara is lovely but I prefer the spelling, Kiara. Charlotte is a favourite name of mine, I absolutely love it
7) Sydney -- I don't like any of the names, Cindy is outdated and ugly and Sidony sounds terribly masculine. I don't like Sydney at all, because I live in Sydney haha...so it just sounds weird as a person's name to me.
Jade -- I don't like Crystal at all, I think it's very tacky as a name. I don't like Ruby either, it's just never interested me at all. I'm not that big on Jade but I can tolerate it.
9) Aurora -- I don't like any of the names, Dawn is alright as a middle name but I, personally, wouldn't use it. Aurora is alright, not something I'm that big a fan of though...and I don't like Zora at all.
10) Diana -- I adore the name Diana, it's very classy and feminine sounding (I love Deanna as well), I don't like Diane at all -- like the name Anne, I feel it's very outdated -- and I don't like Dinah, it makes me think of dinosaur.
11) Nora -- Dora...well that's self explanitory really, it makes me think of Dora the Explorer - though I don't mind Dora as a nickname. Nora is sweet, not a favourite of mine though and I don't like Isadora at all.
12) Savannah -- Florida should never be a name, haha. I have a soft spot for Memphis, purely because my favourite band is U2 and Bono's daughter is Memphis Eve...I like Savannah a lot though
13) Genevieve -- I love love love the name Genevieve, it's so gorgeous
I like Geneva as well, a lot - it's very pretty. I'm not a fan of Gena though, it makes a cute nickname.
14) Georgia -- Georgia is a very popular name here, I know so many Georgia's which is it's only drawback, but I do love the name. I like Georgina as well, which is also popular here, but not quite as much as Georgia. I don't like Georgette.
15) Gwen -- I can't stand any of the names but this is the lesser evil...
16) Daisy -- I hate the name Heather, sorry, it just rubs me the wrong way. I don't like Violet at all either, but I do see the appeal. Daisy is nice but I do see it as more of a pet name.
17) Ivy -- Ivana makes me think of Ivana Trump...not a good thing, haha. I don't like Ivory at all. Ivy is alright, not my taste though.
18) Jamie -- Ahh I hate all the names, James is a strict boys name and Jamaica is just not a name that should be used on a person. Though I prefer Jamie on boys and as a nickname for James, it's the less evil of the three.
19) Janna -- Though I would probably spell it Jana and pronounce it YAH-nuh, because that is how I'm most familiar with. Jan is outdated and Jane is boring.
20) Jenna -- Jeanette is outdated to me. Jenna is lovely, though I prefer it spelt Genna and as a nickname for Genevieve or something. I like Gemma as well, but I prefer it spelt Jemma and as a nickname for Jemima
