Why Collect Movie Memorabilia?

movie memorabilia Think for a moment about your all time favorite movie and the movie memorabilia you have for it.  Got a visual in your head? A song perhaps in your mind?  Okay, does it make you happy?  Sad?  Scared out of your mind?  Are you immediately taken to a far away place....an escape from the humdrum daily grind?  Does the music lift your spirits and make you want to soar?

Digging deeper into movie memorabilia..

I think one of the major reasons to collect movie memorabilia, particularly from your favorite movies, is that it can provoke an instant recreation of the experience.  Remembering your experience when you first saw the movie -- the story line, the characters, the music and effects -- brings a sense of wonder and delight.  Just seeing a movie memorabilia poster can in a split of a second put you on a ship...the Titanic, Black Pearl, or Starship Enterprise.

Hearing the song from a movie you love can give you a feeling of joy, lifting your spirits out of the doldrums for a moment in time at least.  I love how "We Need A Little Christmas" from the musical Mame does that for me.  Now and again, these visuals and sounds bring an escape, even in your own space.  And "getting away from it all" is okay sometimes.

Then there's the sheer fun of decorating with a poster or placing something fun and atypical on a table.  Some people theme entire rooms from a particular scene in a movie.  They use a few pieces to establish the feel and authenticity of their space.

For whatever reason you collect movie memorabilia....

Some collect movie memorabilia just for the pride of ownership.  You're also likely to see a few individuals touting the "I" word -- investment.  Be careful here!  There's a lot to validating autograph authenticity and all before you can officially add such collectibles in your movie memorabilia.  If you're new to movie memorabilia collecting, it's smart to collect for the shear joy and pleasure of it.
